The Opportunity

The visionaries at MidAmerican have really done an impressive job - what was once a dilapidated big box store is now a truly stunning space that Innovative Lighting and GENISYS are proud to be a part of. It was here, at this convergence of creativity and sustainable, green technology, that GENISYS debuted its new commissioning system.

The brownfield project layers passive solar lighting, DIRTT modular construction, an ultra narrow aisle wire-guided picker system, and GENISYS PoE LED lighting powered by Cisco.

The Solution

The results, even with lofty expectations, blew everyone away. The entire GENISYS PoE Lighting system was commissioned in 5 minutes. Commissioning, for the unfamiliar, is tying the installed hardware and light fixtures to the software - the system recognizing its parts and pieces and then attaching them to their physical locations.

Efficient commissioning of PoE devices was elusive in the past, but with the new system it couldn’t have been easier. Daylight harvesting and occupancy / vacancy sensing round out the stack alongside GENISYS PoE LED lighting.

The Impact

Five-minute commissioning - and daylight harvesting you barely notice.

In the offices, the passive solar / daylight harvesting combination works so smoothly that occupants often only notice the light level has changed by seeing the level indicator on the wall switch increase or decrease. Rarely does it climb above the midway point - and later in the day, people catch themselves thinking it’s getting dark before realizing they never turned their lights on to begin with.
